Sir Don Bradman |
Hey readers,
Today we are discussing about 'The Don' of world cricket, late Sir Donald George Bradman( 1908 - 2001) . He was an Australian Right handed batsman and is considered as one of the legendary players of all time (GOAT player). He owned numerous records specially his staggering individual test batting average i.e. 99.94 analysing his 80 test innings. His test average is sufficient to tell anyone about the level of his batting.
It was believed that Don Bradman has god gifted talent by which he plays his magical innings. He played only 52 international test matches and 80 test innings in which he scored 29 tons and 13 half centuries with a jaw-breaking batting average of 99.94 having highest score of 334 in his carrer-span of 20 years (1928 - 1948). He scored runs on an average of 42 runs per hour in his carrer with a mind blowing strike rate of 80, which means he scored 80 runs per 100 balls he played.

Bradman was also a cunning batsman, he knew very well that which bowler he had to pick and which to give respect, as this is one of the aspects of a great bowlers. But this doesn't mean that he can't play violently. It was time when he was in terrible form,
he smashed a century in just 22 balls which was considered somewhere as an unofficial match but still the fastest ton in history of cricket.
He was a nightmare for many bowlers for many years, especially the English bowlers. Let's take a look on a stat:
Record for highest runs in a test series: 974 runs in 5 matches in 1930 Ashes series which is still an almost unreachable record.
Record for most runs against an opponent in test cricket: 5028 runs against England.
Most runs in a single day play: 309 against England in 1930

Do you think, the magical stats ends here... NO!
Here are some other,
One of the only two players to score more than 500 runs in a test series i.e. 7 times. The only other player able achieve it, is Brian Lara.
Most centuries scored in a single session: 6 centuries
Record for best batting average in a test series: 201.5 in 1931-32 against South Africa
Highest 5th wicket partnership record in test cricket: 405 runs with Sid Barnes
So, now I think you come to know something about Sir Don Bradman and why says his name with respect by putting 'sir' before... I only want to make you aware about which types of players had been borned in our world.
AND before ending this, I want to tell you a more interesting fact about him.
Sir Don Bradman got out on a duck (zero) in his last test inning by Eric Hollies (English Bowler), but the more fascinating thing is that if he had scored only four runs in that inning, his batting average would be 100.
THANKS!! for giving me your expensive minutes...
HAVE A NICE DAY!
